Hey everyone, Olivia here! I wanted to stop in and let you all know that Selvedge Magic is here at Wyldwood Creative. This fabric collection is such a fun one, and we can't wait to see the fun things made with these fabrics. Keep reading to see a round-up of pattern inspo perfect for these fun selvedge pieces!
What is Selvedge Magic?

Over the past year or two, selvedge collecting has totally become its own thing - people are using those little logo strips for quilt labels, name tags, bags, garments, and just about anything you can dream up. Ruby Star Society caught on to the trend and turned it into a full-on love letter to their fans called Selvedge Magic, pulling together years of selvedge prints into one wild and colorful mini collection.

There are three different fabrics in the mix:
- a running yardage print that includes almost every Ruby Star selvedge ever printed (seriously, it’s a lot)
- a Selvedge Icons panel full of tiny doodles and graphics pulled straight from past collections
- and a Selvedge Letters panel, which is full of alphabet squares designed for fussy cutting and creative labeling

Needless to say, this one’s made for playful sewing. And if you’re wondering what exactly to make with all this goodness in the Selvedge Magic mini collection, don’t worry - I’ve got you. Below is a roundup of my favorite pattern ideas that show off the collection in all the best ways.
Selvedge Magic Project Inspo
All the Things Tote
Pattern by Knot and Thread Design – Grab it here - $12

This tote is a classic for a reason. Big, roomy, and such a good match for the bold stripey selvedge print. Use it for hauling projects, groceries, or whatever else you’re currently juggling.
Mystic Rainbow Quilt
Pattern by Alexia Marcelle Abegg – Grab it here - $16

This one is basically a color explosion in quilt form. It was designed with this fabric in mind and it shows - those selvedges shine in the layout.
Circe Quilt
Pattern by Miss Make – Available here – $16

We already love the Circe pattern for its fun movement, but paired with the Selvedge Letters panel? It adds the perfect quirky touch.
Dot + Dash Quilt
Pattern by Modern Handcraft – Find it here – $13

Simple, strip-friendly, and great for showing off a mix of prints. If you want a low-stress sew that still packs a punch, this is a good pick.
Violet Backpack
Pattern by Knot and Thread Design – Snag the PDF – $12

Yes - you can turn a fabric panel into a backpack. This pattern looks so fun with the icons panel, and it makes for a great weekend project.
Tamarack Jacket
Pattern by Grainline Studio – Buy the pattern – $22

You know we’re big fans of quilted garments over here, and the Tamarack is a classic. Imagine it made with selvedge strips... it’s giving maximalist dream coat and we’re into it.
Handmade Quilt Tag (Coming soon!)

There’s a free pattern for this one on the way from Ruby Star Society - meant to be used with the letter panel to make a sweet little tag for your quilt backs. We’ll update the link as soon as it’s available!
Swap Talk Quilt (Coming soon!)

Another fun freebie coming soon! This quilt pattern is really going to let those selvedge strips shine. We can't wait to share it with you all.
