LoriAnn Quilt Along Week 6: Quilt Top Assembly
Welcome to our final week of the LoriAnn Quilt sew along. You’re almost done! All that’s left is assembling the top. Deciding on a layout can be a little stress-inducing. I like to work from the center out and try to match up blocks in a way that there won’t be the same fabrics touching from block to block, then I can fill in with the rest of the blocks. I like to use the black and white filter again to ensure good value placement. Again, don’t stress yourself out here, it’s meant to be random and a bit chaotic! ...
LoriAnn Quilt Along Week 5: Making Half Square Triangles
Welcome to Week 5 of the LoriAnn Quilt Sew Along! We made it through our patchwork triangles, and now it’s time to make some one-at-a-time Half Square Triangles (also known as HSTs)! These come together pretty fast compared to the patchwork triangles. Important HST Things To Remember When matching your triangles right sides together, make sure the two outside edges are aligned. Organizing Your Fabrics When I’m making my triangles, I like to make a few stacks of my scrappy squares in front of me and just pull randomly as I lay out the triangle. I really cannot stress enough that you should not stress about the fabric placement here. Once the quilt is all sewn together, you’re not going to notice that you have similar colors touching or two blues in one row. Seriously,...

Welcome to Week 2 of the LoriAnn Quilt Sew Along! This week, we are cutting into our fabric. If this brings a drop of sweat to your brow, have no fear! We’ve got some helpful tips and tricks to make cutting a breeze. The cutting for this quilt is pretty easy, especially if you’re using precuts! It’s just a bunch of squares. A Stripology Ruler can really speed things up here. (If not, don’t sweat it; I don’t have one either.) Helpful Tips for Cutting Pressing Get that fabric as flat and as stiff as you can! For pressing, I...
