Welcome to our final week of the LoriAnn Quilt sew along. You’re almost done! All that’s left is assembling the top.

Deciding on a layout can be a little stress-inducing. I like to work from the center out and try to match up blocks in a way that there won’t be the same fabrics touching from block to block, then I can fill in with the rest of the blocks. I like to use the black and white filter again to ensure good value placement.
Again, don’t stress yourself out here, it’s meant to be random and a bit chaotic!
This is another great time to use web piecing to speed things up! You can do this for the whole quilt or do half and half, so there’s less fabric to fuss with.
Once that center of the quilt is complete, it just needs some borders! The original quilt is just slightly rectangular, and you can see where some bigger background borders were added. My guess is my mom got it all sewn together, threw it on her bed, and realized it was going to be a little too short, so she threw on some borders to the top and bottom to add some length. You can stick with the pattern as is or cut your borders to all the same width if you prefer a square quilt.

When sewing on borders, it’s a good idea to measure the side of your quilt and your border to make sure they’re the exact same length. When pinning, I like to pin the ends, then the center, then fill in between. This helps make sure you don’t end up with a wonky border.
Once those borders are on, you’re done! Congrats on completing the LoriAnn quilt! Be sure to share your finished quilt with us. We can’t wait to see it!
