Description: This class is for everyone interested in the world of fabrics, whether you’re a longtime sewist or a curious beginner. We’ll cover the basics of common fiber and fabric types, learn the ‘language’ of fabric specifications like ‘weight’ and ‘drape,’ and discuss how to pick the right fabric for your projects. Sample fabrics will serve as examples along the way. The class will also touch on topics like sustainability, how to identify mystery fabrics (including the ‘burn test’), and how to impress your friends with cool fabric fun facts. No prior sewing or crafting skills are required- all are welcome!
Duration: 2 hrs
Students Bring: All learning materials are provided- you do not need to bring anything with you! If you are a notetaker, feel free to bring a notebook and something to write with.
Materials Included: All in-class learning materials are provided.
You'll Leave With: A greater understanding of fiber and fabric types, and how to apply that knowledge to your sewing and other crafting projects. Plus a hand out with highlights about the fabrics discussed in class.
Skill Level: All skill levels welcome!
Skill Details: You do not need to have any prior sewing experience to attend this class. This is part of our informational learning series, an interest in fabric is all that's required!
Age Range: This class is designed for adults18+ Teens 13 and up may attend with an adult who is also registered for the class

- Cancellation Notice: Makers are kindly requested to provide a minimum of 72 hours' notice in the event of needing to cancel or reschedule a class. This advance notice allows us to accommodate other makers and make any necessary adjustments to our schedule.
- Refunds: Any class cancellations made more than 72 hours in advance will receive either a full refund on a gift card, or a full refund minus a $5 card processing fee to the card used for registration. This fee accounts for the costs associated with the transaction.
- Late Cancellations: Cancellations made less than 72 hours before the class start time and no shows will forfeit the registration fee.
