Make a book cover as magical as your current read.
In this beginner-friendly sewing class, you’ll learn how to make an adjustable, reusable book cover. The book cover protects your books and lets you read your fairy smut (or whatever you’re into) in peace. It’s a great intro project! Simple but satisfying.
We’ll guide you through each step of the process, from choosing fabric to adjusting your cover to fit a range of book sizes. Whether you're covering a standard paperback or a chunky hardcover, you’ll leave with a custom creation that fits like a glove.
No prior sewing experience needed, but you'll need to bring your focus, we won't be taking any reading breaks! By the end of class, you’ll feel more confident using a sewing machine, walk away with a finished book cover, and be ready to stitch up more for every title in your TBR pile.
Duration: 2 hours
Students Bring: You do not need to bring anything for this class! We will supply the sewing machines and all the tools and materials to make the paperback size from the pattern.
Please arrive a little early so that you can choose your fabrics before class begins.
Materials Included: Each student will choose 2 fat quarters from our selection of quilting cottons. We will also supply elastic, ribbon, interfacing, and thread. *You are welcome to bring your own fabric as long as it is quilting cotton.
You'll Leave With: A book cover that will fit multiple books of the same height, yet different page counts. You will also receive a link to the pattern used in class to make more book covers for your collection.
Skill Level: Beginner Level 1
Skill Details: We’ll cover cutting fabric down to size, marking pattern pieces, using interfacing, sewing in elastic, following seam allowance, and general use of a sewing machine.
Vibe: Sociable Stitching. Relaxed and beginner-friendly with hands-on instruction. You’ll get plenty of guidance while making something fun, with built-in moments to chat, connect, and enjoy the process along the way.

Absolutely! We have machines here that you're welcome to use, but if you'd rather use your own that's just fine.

Not really. We'll be around running the store while you're here and can help you if you have issues with our machines or a small question or two, but if you need more hands-on help with you're sewing we suggest checking out one of our classes instead!
