Beginner Sewing - Tote Bag
Class Description: Join us for a fun beginner sewing class! We'll take you through the process of sewing your very own reusable tote bag. This is the perfect place to start if you've never sewn before or it it's been awhile.
We'll cover things like:
- Types of sewing machines
- Parts of the sewing machine
- Threading and winding the bobbin
- Seam allowance
- Right Side vs Wrong Side
- Following a pattern
- Creating box corners
- Best practices for creating positive sewing habits
Duration: 3.25 hours (we find that students work at different paces, you may finish earlier than others)
Students Bring: You do not need to bring anything for this class! We will supply the sewing machines and all the tools and materials. Our classroom machines are Bernette B37s. Don't worry if you're machine is different, the skills learned in this class will transfer to any sewing machine.
Materials Included: Each student will select a tote kit from our stock of all cotton tote kits. Kits come with the fabric already cut and ready to start sewing.
You'll Leave With: A completed reusable tote bag! Each student will take home instructions for the tote bag so they can make more on their own. Each student will also receive a handout that covers sewing basics like needle types, thread types, and troubleshooting

Skill Details: If you've never touched a sewing machine or if it's been a while this class is for you! We have designed this class to cater to absolute beginners. You do not need to know anything about sewing to take this class. This is where we recommend starting on your sewing journey!
