90K-125K Tier 3
125K+ Tier 4
Description: In our beginner garment making class we will walk you through the process of making your own Envelope dress! This pattern by Cris Wood Sews is size inclusive and leaves almost zero waste! We’ll go over reading patterns, how to finish seams without a serger, and a few tips for getting a great fit.
Class Duration: 3.5 hours
Students Bring: Fabric and coordinating thread for your dress, scrap fabric, and your pattern. Students will need to purchase the PDF pattern directly from Cris Woods here.
Fabric Required: You will need 1.75 yds for sizes up to 14. For larger sizes to determine your needed yardage take your hip measurement and add 16” this equals the total length of fabric that you need. Lightweight to midweight wovens like linen and cotton work best for this pattern. Fabric needs to be a woven and ideally not see through as the dress does not have any lining. You'll also need coordinating thread.
Skill Level: Confident Beginner Garment Sewist/Intermediate Sewist
Skill Details: Students should have some sewing experience and have completed 5 or so independent sewing projects. Students should be able to maintain a consistent seam allowance, understand the right side vs wrong side of fabric, and overall feel comfortable operating a sewing machine. It's okay if this is your first garment!
