Beginner Sewing - Pajama Pants
Description: In our beginner garment making class we will walk you through the process of making your own Pajama Pants! You'll learn how to cut pattern pieces using a printed pattern, how to finish seams using a standard sewing machine, create inseam pockets, and create an elastic waist.
This is a great first garment project!
Class Duration: 4 hours with breaks
Students Bring: You'll arrive to class with your fabric pieces already cut out. Upon registration you will receive an instructional video that will guide you through the fabric prep and cutting process. You will also bring coordinating thread, scrap fabric, and your pattern. Students will need to purchase and download the pattern from Tiana Herring Patters here.
You can print the pattern at home or utilize our pdf printing service to print the A0 file.
Fabric Required: The amount needed will depend on your size, please refer to the pattern to determine amount needed. This pattern uses woven fabrics, we recommend cozy fabrics like flannel, or a lightweight woven for a thinner pant.
Skill Level: Confident Beginner Garment Sewist/Intermediate Sewist
Skill Details: Students should have some sewing experience and have completed 5 or so independent sewing projects. Students should be able to maintain a consistent seam allowance, understand the right side vs wrong side of fabric, and overall feel comfortable operating a sewing machine.

In this course we'll go over:
- Measuring yourself to determine size
- Cutting out pieces using a paper pattern
- Finishing seams with out a serger
- Creating in seam pockets
- Creating an elastic waistband
